Maps and models
The Map provides a rich view of all points, lines and polygons in the job, as well as:
-
3D models in BIM files
-
points, lines and polygons in project data files
-
data from background maps
You can add data to the map that is not in the job using the Layer manager. Use the Layer manager to:
-
Link project data files to the job by making them visible or selectable.
-
View scans and surface inspections attached to the job.
-
Link background maps from a variety of sources and in various formats.
For more information, see Managing data layers using the Layer manager and Adding background maps.
Use the view and selection tools in the map to:
-
Locate and view the data in the map you are most interested in.
-
Select items in the map and review information about them.
-
Tap Review to review details of the selected items.
For more information, see Viewing and reviewing items in the map.
From the map you can add new points, lines, and polygons to the map (and the job) using a variety of software functions:
-
Measure new points, lines, and polygons using position information from the connected GNSS receiver or conventional survey instrument.
-
Key in new points and lines, if needed.
-
Perform measurements and calculations using Cogo functions.
-
Select items in the map and use them in other software functions, for example to perform a Cogo calculation or to create a surface.
For more information, see Creating points and lines in the map.
Select items in the map and stake them out using position information from the connected GNSS receiver or conventional survey instrument.
For more information, see Staking from the map.
Use the inspection and comparison tools to check as-built structures against the design.
For more information, see As-built inspection.
Tools on the map toolbars are referred to throughout the Maps and models section of the Origin Help.
For a useful reference to all of the tools available in the map, see Map toolbars.
