To measure an observed control point
Use the Observed control point method to measure a point with an extended occupation time and quality control information.
For an RTK survey, initialize the survey before starting to measure the point. For a Postprocessed Kinematic survey, you can start measuring a point before initialization, but you should not store it until you have initialized the survey.
- Tap
and select Measure / Measure points, or in the map, with nothing selected, tap Measure.
-
Select Observed control point in the Method field.
If you are using a receiver with IMU tilt compensation, the software automatically switches to GNSS-only mode when you select the observed control point method, so the point can be measured in static mode.
-
Enter the Point name and Code.. See Selecting feature codes in Measure points or Measure topo.
If the selected code has attributes, the Attrib softkey appears. Tap Attrib and fill out the attribute fields. See Entering attribute values when measuring a point. Tap Store.
- Enter a value in the Antenna height field and make sure that the setting in the Measured to field is set appropriately.
- To configure quality, precision, and tilt settings, tap Options. See GNSS point options.
-
If you are using a receiver that supports the GNSS eBubble, use the eBubble to level the receiver and make sure the pole is vertical and stationary. To show or hide the eBubble from any screen, press Ctrl + L.
-
Tap Measure.
The static measuring mode icon
in the status bar indicates the pole should be vertical while you measure the point.
-
When the preset occupation time and precisions have been reached, tap Store.
If you have been measuring the point for longer than 15 epochs and the precisions go out of tolerance, a message warns that the occupation timer will reset and allows you to store the last position with good precisions. Tap Yes to store the last good position. Tap No to reset the timer and continue measuring the point.
To accept the measurement before the occupation time or precision requirements have been satisfied, or if there has been movement, tilt, or precision warnings during the occupation, tap
.
If you are using a receiver with IMU tilt compensation, if you select a different measurement method and the IMU is still aligned, then the software returns to using IMU tilt compensation. The eBubble automatically disappears, and the tilted measuring mode icon in the status bar indicates points can be measured without leveling the pole.
