To rotate, scale, or translate points
Rotate, scale, and translate transformations change the stored coordinates of a point. Only points that can be displayed as grid coordinates can be transformed.
- Tap
and select Cogo / Adjust / Transformations.
- Select Rotate / scale / translate points. Tap Next.
- Select the transformation type. Choose one or more of the following:
- Select Rotate to rotate a selection of points about a specified origin point.
- Select Scale to scale the distances between the origin point and the selected points.
Select Translate to move a selection of points on a grid surface.
NOTE – When performing more than one transformation, the order is always rotate, scale, then translate.
- Tap Next.
- Fill out the fields required for the selected transformation method(s):
- To rotate points:
- Select the Origin point.
- Enter the Rotation angle or, to compute the rotation as the difference between two azimuths, tap
and select Two azimuths.
- To scale points:
Select the Origin point.
When transforming by both rotate and scale, the origin for the scale defaults to the origin for the rotate.
- Enter the Scale factor.
- To translate points, from the Method field, choose one of the following:
Select Deltas and then enter the delta Northing, Easting, and/or Elevation. The delta is the distance the point must be shifted.
You can select a single delta, for example a northing, or any combination of deltas for the transformation.
Select Two points and then select the From point and the To point.
- To rotate points:
- Tap Next.
-
Select the point(s) to transform.
Points selected in the map automatically populate the list of points to be transformed. To add points to the list, see Selecting points.
NOTE – If you select a base point to be transformed, then vectors flowing from this base become null.
- Tap Accept.
-
To start the transformation, tap OK.
- Tap OK.
